4 TRAITS OF GREAT COMMUNICATORS

Uncategorized Jan 24, 2023

Great communication is the key to success in any relationship, personal or professional. Some people are naturally good communicators while others must learn the skills necessary to communicate effectively. Regardless of your skill level, effective communication is a vital skill that is essential for success in all areas of life.

Whether it be in your personal or professional relationships, the ability to effectively convey your thoughts and ideas is crucial for building and maintaining strong connections with others. In this article I will discuss the 4 key traits that every great communicator possesses.

Let’s dive in!

1. Listening is an essential trait of a good communicator. It is important to not just hear what the other person is saying, but to actively listen and understand their perspective. This means being present in the conversation, asking questions, and responding when appropriate. To learn more about the art of listening, check out this article!

2. Articulation is another important trait of great communicators. It refers to the ability to express oneself clearly and confidently. This includes clarity in oral and written communication as well as using the right vocabulary to convey the intended meaning (example: do not use industry jargon unless you are absolutely sure the other party knows what it means). Being able to articulate your thoughts and ideas clearly allows for better understanding and a smaller margin for misinterpretation.

3. Empathy is a trait that is often overlooked in the communication process. Empathy is the ability to understand and relate to the feelings of another person. When you learn to listen from a place of empathy, by putting yourself in the other person's shoes, you are able to better understand their perspective and respond in a way that is appropriate and meaningful.

4. Adaptability is the ability to adjust your communication style based on the situation and the audience you are communicating with. Being an adaptable communicator allows you to be flexible and work with any communication scenario that may arise.

Effective communicators are masters of human interpretation. By utilizing these traits to help them receive, respond to, and relay information, they are able to create positive work environments, terrific customer experiences, and lasting relationships that will continue to serve their business.
